Hi, I'm Nann White, founder & LEAD DESIGNER of Redbud Landscape Architecture.

Although landscapes and art have been life-long passions, working in Landscape Design came in a circuitous fashion. I started in physical labor--vineyard work installing large- scale irrigation systems--after moving from Southern California to Sonoma County. By expanding into planting and maintenance, I gained visual design instincts, irrigation trouble-shooting skills, horticultural knowledge and a love for plants. After several years I realized I could not sustain the required physical labor so I returned to college with a clear focus. I obtained a B.S. degree in Landscape Architecture from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in 1991. Upon graduation I returned to the San Francisco Bay Area and worked as lead estimator and designer for a large landscape contracting company with projects in both residential and commercial work.

I took these skills to the public sector by taking a position managing installation of construction projects for the Sonoma County Regional Parks Department. I’m particularly proud of helping guide the Sonoma County wide trail plan.

I really found my passion when I began working as a full-time designer for a high end residential landscape design/build firm. I loved creating on paper what I could soon watch become a reality in the field. This opportunity enabled me to work with seasoned artisans and also learn the business from the company owner who served as mentor.

I started Redbud Design Landscape Architecture 20 years ago in an effort to harmonize and integrate the aesthetics of small scale residential landscapes with the functionality of commercial spaces. I have cultivated a network of fellow designers, artisans, architects, and contractors that share ideas, expertise and inspiration that help me create beautiful and sustainable landscapes.

After a thorough site analysis, Redbud Design combines creative inspiration, horticultural expertise and knowledge of construction practices to create functionally beautiful landscapes. We stay current with industry standards and trends and are committed to putting sustainable methodologies into practice.
